22 May Champions Bowl National Qualifier 2018
Established in 2014 by two Germans Andrej Drinka and Boris Monsberger, Champions Bowl is fast becoming the largest tennis tournament for young people between the age of 9 and 16. Nigerian involvement this year through KTC will give Tennis players a chance to qualify for the UMAG 2018 Finals. Umag, Croatia home to one time Grandslam winner Marin Cilic and rising star – who not too surprisingly played at the 2013 Governor’s Cup – Borna Coric (champ-Bowl link) is set to host yet another lively event for the kids after a wonderful outing in 2017.
KTC believes strongly in the wholesome development of the child through not only Education, but Sports also, and by creating these opportunities with the Champions Bowl affiliation and a platinum sponsor in Zenith, children will for the first time have a chance of a Wilson Sponsorship if they are able to win in their age category at the World Finals in September.
This tournament is structured in such a way that it creates an atmosphere of Davis Cup (for the men) and Fed Cup (for the women) at an early age by exposing these young ones to Team Competitions in a very relaxed environment. Andy Murray in his book Seventy-Seven: My road to Wimbledon Glory, was quick to make the correlation between playing team Summer and Winter Events in England since the age of 12 as one of the reasons Olympic Games meant a lot to him. And we can see how he confidently defended his title in consecutive games.
Join the Fun this Maiden Edition as we expect 76 players (16U and 14U Categories) with 4 wild cards and 36 Coaches from each state of the Federation to thrill us with strokes and drama. We are happy to share the moment with Luik Tennis and Recreation Club, Zenith Bank (Platinum Sponsors; and Wilson (World Sponsors) making this event to be a memorable one for the players and a game changer in the NTF who have given tremendous support in emphasizing playing your age.
So join us as we say: PLAY THE GAME! MAKE IT YOURS!!
