The Speechmaker

Macron speech

If I were asked what word comes to mind in this past week of July 4th (definitely the most memorable day of my adult life) – of course barring my Wedding Day (smile) – it would be “speeches”!! And why should that be, I hear my ever inquisitive inner mind ask?

I say as I giggle deeply to myself pinching myself and still not believing that I took a “selfie” yes selfie with the best Speechmaker I have ever read or heard- President of France, Emmanuel Macron. He gave the most inspirational speech to a bunch of students at the Louis Pasteur Lycee Francais, a school where I have coached Tennis for the past 3 years as an Extra-Curricuar Sport. Not only were the words he said on point, they were very relevant to the issues of this day and age and particularly echoed so many things I have been saying in many conversations with friends over the past few years. Hearing them echoed that evening of July 4th on the Tennis/Basketball Court of the school from the French President himself made all the goose pimples in my body stand out! It was as if he was speaking my mind and we had shared coffee during the Afternoon break, I was close to tears as I heard him encourage kids to speak out through excellence in Sports, to be excellent in everything they do by striving to become Champions, and being a Champion he said is being a positive role model in every thing that we do, from the team leaders to the coaches, to the teachers in the school and every parent that was there present. He encoureged everyone to be a Champion of their Sport!

I guess life just has a way of aligning us to our destiny. It takes hardwork and dedication to take a leap. Let’s keep up the good work, keep nurturing and grooming the future champions.
